Copper Beeches, Denmead

New Commercial Aluminium Entrance Doors with Automation.

This scheme manager of this residential retirement complex, contacted us to provide a quotation for a new automated aluminium entrance door  to replace the old wooden ones.

The original entrance consisted of a single inward opening Wooden door with fixed glass panels on either side. The door was in poor condition and offered little security.

After some discussions it was decided that a new a wider door was required to allow more room for wheelchairs and mobility scooters to come in and out. The new door was to open outwards to comply with fire regulations. The new door was to be hinged on the right to ensure that it opened away from the door entry panel.

A detailed quotation was prepared and sent by e-mail to the scheme manger. The manager presented the residents with our proposal and they naturally had a few questions, about the  new proximity fob access control and the automation and so we agreed to attend a coffee morning to go over their concerns.

CAD drawings were prepared and submitted for consideration and approval.

After receiving the go-ahead for the drawings, we put the doors into production. Risk and method statements were prepared and sent.

A few weeks later, we were on site fitting the new entrance doors.

We had aleady arranged an NICEIC approved electrical contractor to fit the mains electrical fused spur the week before, so that it was ready for us to connect into.

The new entrance was fitted in the morning and the automation and fob system fitted and set upon the same day to ensure that the door could be used manually and was secure for the evening.

The automation was finished and commissioned the next day.

The automation consisted of an Gilgen FD20 swing door operator with 2 x "BEA 4Safe" safety sensors

A Germ-free, non contact  - "BEA Magic Switch Chroma" Touch Free exit button was fitted to open the door from inside. This makes exiting easier as a simple wave of the hand from a short distance away.

Being touch free, this limits the spread of germs and diseases.

A proximity fob access control system was fitted, which allows resident's and staff to open the door with an electronic contactless key fob. Each apartment was provided with 2 fobs each (the fobs were different colours to aid identification if lost) ADI can delete lost fobs remotely without the need to visit site which saves on a call out charge.

The fobs are inexpensive, secure and come with a life-time warranty. For more information see our page on ADI Fob access control.
